What’s the difference between supported employment of Person with Autism (PWA) and Person with Disability (PWD)?

What’s the difference between supported employment of Person with Autism (PWA) and Person with Disability (PWD)?

  • Any form of support for Person with Disability (PWD) in general is of course a commendable social responsibility. It should be noted however that training and employment for person with physical disabilities is different to supported employment of persons with autism. The difference is that for PWA with mild and intermediate levels of autism (i.e. L2 and L3), supported employment with continuous supervision and assistance from a trained job coach is needed.

  • PWA depends on the coach to a large extent. SEA Club offers in-house work structures that enables and simulates employment and associated activities, as an achievable goal specifically for PWA.
